Smart Windows for K-12
Hi we are the Question Mark team and we have a energy saving solution we like to share.

Problem
Our problem this year is that buildings use too much energy. The biggest sources of energy use in buildings are the AC (air conditioning) and heaters due to the unpredictable gain and loss of heat through windows. As a result, K-12 schools spend about $6 billion dollars on energy every year.
This has become a serious problem for our community in the San Francisco area, since we mostly use fossil fuels for our energy which contributes to global warming, causing dried forest land that creates wildfires. These conditions have resulted in our power outages and poor air quality that’s bad for our health.
Our Focus
To address this critical problem, we decided to focus our solution on energy- efficient building design for our school.
Our Solution
Electrochromic windows are windows that can tint using a small amount of electricity. It takes electricity to change the visible light transmission but minimal electricity to maintain a tint. It is the only smart window you can control.
